“The mind-body-spirit connection implies that we need to treat the whole patient. Stress reduction, supportive relationships, time and energy management, spiritual practices, and psychological and cognitive therapy as indicated, all work together to improve patient quality of life, ability to work and contribute to family and society, and the ability to derive pleasure in daily activities.” This quote from our publication reminds us that to treat a patient is to treat the whole person, and both Western and Eastern approaches have merit. It has been found by many, however, that their combination may provide us with the best avenue for optimal health.
